Are you interested in the things we do in ESN Lapland and would want to get more involved than just attending our events? Become our active member!

What is an active member?

If the board members are like the official workers in ESN Lapland, active members are like volunteer workers. As an active member, your task will be to help the ESN Lapland board organise events. This can be for example suggesting event ideas, but the most common task is helping set things up for bigger events such as sitsit as well as helping with the cleaning after the event. As an active member you can attend the event you are helping us to organise for free as an exchange for helping us out

Who can become an active member?

Locals and internationals alike are very welcome to join us as active members. Previous experience in event organising is beneficial, but not required. All that matters is that you are motivated and ready to tackle the tasks we assign to you!

Why should I become an active member?

Each semester, the board of ESN Lapland will evaluate the work that the active members have done and choose who have earned a certificate for the work they have done. If you have performed well on your tasks and showed an overall positive impact and contribution to ESN Lapland's activities, there will be a certificate written by the president of ESN Lapland waiting for you at the end of the semester.

Becoming an active member is not only beneficial for ESN Lapland, but by becoming one you are also contributing to the international community in Rovaniemi. ESN Lapland's resources are not limitless and there is only so much we can do with just the board members. With the extra help from the active members, we are able to provide better experiences for our members.

Working as an active member is also the perfect opportunity to develope your skills in such things as communication, team work, event organisation and proactivity. With ESN Lapland you get to work together with people from different countries and backgrounds, enriching your life with cultural exchange.

I want to become an active member, what do I do next?

First of all, what a wonderful choice to make! Your next step in becoming an active member is to contact the board. You can do that by emailing us at board@esnlapland.eu or by contacting a board member who will pass the message forward. It's a good idea to tell us a bit about yourself, in case multiple people want to become active members and we have to get choosy.
