President:  Laura Karjalainen

Heyyy! My name is Laura, and I'm a Political Science student here in University of Lapland. I am planning on graduating this year. I'm interested in different languages and cultures, and my goal in ESN is to promote cultural exchange and understanding. In my free time I enjoy playing video games and drawing. Fun fact about me is that I've lived in 10 different cities in Finland. Also, I really love rabbits <3

Vice President: Enzo Fernandes

Heyo ٩(◕‿◕。)۶

I'm Enzo, 23yo, lusophone, self-proclaimed low cost Mr. Worldwide & former International Relations student. All of my interests go in the IR line ~~ geography, demography, cultures, politics and of course the mobility world itself.

I’ve been in Finland & Rovaniemi for one year and a half and besides definitely being the coldest experience ever, it’s also a really sweet one. Don’t know what else to add here so: chronically online, always ironic, cat person, purple, outdoors & analog.

Treasurer: Mikael Karadjov

My name is Mikael Karadjov and I am the current treasurer of the board of ESN Lapland. I study General Educational Science at the University of Lapland.

I consider myself to be a benevolent, just and systematic person.

I like to take long walks in the town and nature of Rovaniemi as well as to meet new people during my free time.

A funny fact about myself: I wanted to become an actor when I was a child.

Secretary: Lisa Heilmann

My name is Lisa, I am 28 years old and originally from Germany. I came to Rovaniemi to do my PhD in Administrative Sciences. I speak some Finnish and I am always happy to explain this crazy language to fellow learners. In my free time, I love to do hikes around Rovaniemi, bake and knit.

HR Manager: Kaitlin Jupp

Hello,

I am Kaitlin and am the HR manager on the ESN Board. I’m a kind, crazy and a “down for anything” kind of person that enjoys sleeping, studying languages and sports. I have had a chance to meet Käärijä and seen Dwayne Johnson in person.

I joined the ESN because I used to be an exchange student in Kupio, where we had the best ESN events and I also think that during the dark winters it is important to come together with other students, internationals and Finns <3

Event Coordinator: Adrien Fontenaud

Hello,
I’m Adrien and I’m the event manager of ESN Lapland, which I have been for 3 years.

As the Event Manager, I love organizing events that bring people together and create great experiences for international students, also to connect locals and exchanges students.

I have been in Rovaniemi for 5 years, when I’m not planning ESN activities, you’ll probably find me working with reindeers, skiing, or practicing judo.

Project Coordinator: Helmi Kuusisto

Moi moi moi! I’m Helmi, our Project Coordinator as well as one of the harassment contact persons. I’m originally from the southern parts of Finland (Halikko, my beloved <3) and I’m currently finishing my third year of studying Political Science and Sociology.

Outside school life (which is probably like 75% of my time because who has time for studying when there are other pressing matters to attend to), you’ll catch me reading, watching movies and series, baking, doing low-budged crafting  for student events or having screaming matches with my cat.

On those rare occasions I make an appearance at the university, you’ll find me sitting on the sofas in front of Felli, most likely playing Bubble Shooter, talking people’s ears off (most of the time about politics) or doing other productive and important things.

If you ever spot me in my natural habitat, feel free to come and say hi! I might do my best impression of the surprised Pikachu meme, but after the shock wears off, I’m happy to start a yapping session about anything and everything. Or draw you a picture of a rat!

Trip Coordinator:  Tuike Holopainen

I’m Tuike Holopainen and I’m the trip coordinator of ESN Lapland. I’m doing my master’s in Arctic World Politics in Rovaniemi but I’m originally from Eastern Finland. However, I’m almost always on the go - I lived three years in the Netherlands, solo backpacked across Central America, and travel around somewhat randomly. I consider myself quite international (and chatty) for Finnish standards, and that keeps on bringing me back to ESN!

I love good and vibrant energy, deep chats, bad jokes & kind people. You can find me on the dance floor, randomly hugging a tree or a friend, or recharging alone in the forest. Come say hi anytime you catch me somewhere! Except in the forest, I’m a Finn afterall. ;)

(Psst.. Join our Lofoten trip with ESN! I also lived there last summer, so I can strongly recommend. The views are unmatched. <3)

Communication Coordinator: Hana Beus

Hello!

My name is Hana, and I am the Board’s Communication Coordinator. I am new to Rovaniemi, but I have already fallen in love with its nature and the peace it offers. I hope that one day, I will know a bit more Finnish than just “kiitos.”

I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Education, but in my free time, I enjoy creative activities like crocheting, pottery, and music. I am also a horror movie enthusiast!

I love meeting new people and working with them, which is one of the reasons I decided to join ESN. I believe it will give me the opportunity to acquire new skills and knowledge while connecting with others.
